A normal, independent, socially friendly, and always something or so much on her mind that she occasionally comes across scatterbrained and mildly disorganized kind of cat. She was happier than ever this adventurous one - so enthusiastic and lively, she enjoyed adventure stories and dead set on one day having or creating her own grand journey one day... it'd be a shame if something ruined it. Not alive, not dead inside, maybe half-dead? Perhaps that best described the complicated feelings and mood she's been in after a fatal accident of her childhood friend, and fellow brave adventurer. Oriolelei was distracted and away, someone did something accidentally and she -the self-proclaim 'responsible apprentice'- never got over the guilt or forgot the experience. To enjoy living so much it really horrible to her to think it could be over and gone just like that. Her subconscious actually tortured itself with nightmares of cold, darkness, overwhelming fear, overwhelming dread, the whispers, the horrors. Oriolelei couldn't help the dissociative, fatalistic resignation state she fell in, the disconnect she secretly felt with everyone outside of her best friend took years to overcome, or more like forget. She believes in her clan, and loves the fierce loyalty between them but feels it hurts to follow their ways. If she was actually held accountable for that accident that happen so long ago she probably would've been demoted, if her father told the truth about who her mother was, they'd both be demoted or thrown out for the additional lie. Her mother was an outsider who gave birth around the time a battle took place, so when her mother couldn't stop the bleeding and knew she had to call out for him, he abandoned defending his clan and friends. He ultimately would end up taking the kit she wanted to name 'Aradia' that would never be, and bring right back to the ones he left; he claimed a female friend he left to die was the mother of the sole kit. The kitting was early and came by stress, can't you tell by the fighting to death and the sole kit? No more questions asked, and none were. He already fell out of the Grace caste having her inherit the Tarnished caste and she was testing the waters without even knowing it - her personality was just so bad for a WinterClan cat. 'Forget the outsiders, respect the caste, respect the code' so when he finally told her all that after losing her friend and just wanting some words of comfort, she got that instead. So she straighten up her act so to speak to be back in the Grace caste with her father - maybe that's why the sadness, the distance hurt that much more during her youth with everything repressed. She couldn't even tell her best friend Rowanstrike the things her father told her, but socializing is hard for him so luckily he never asked or tried to problem solve, sometimes having an ear to just listen to her and how she felt was enough, and a lot better than her father bringing up his mistake and telling her to get it together. "spent most of my life, Riding waves, playing acrobat, shadowboxing the other half, learning how to react, catching my breath, letting it go," Becoming a warrior and rising into a caste felt so freeing and somehow still off - she still wasn't sure she even deserved it but she just wanted to be herself again, to sing regardless of whose around to hear, to catch her breath, let it go and have her heavy heart felt like weightless cloud again. Forget all the wrongs, to do what feels right and leave behind some reasons to be missed not continuing this cycle of anger or hate. She wants to help her fellow clansmates, because that's what she wants not because it might help her move up. She even volunteers with the students while still barely having an inkling of how far her skills can go, what she's going to do with her life but if she pretends she's confident, then maybe she can fake it to make it. She feels like she was late to break out of her shell and start anew, forgetting the former pieces of herself except well, her enthusiasm for adventure. Now it's just to places of relevance to whatever research or new vein of information she's obsessed with. Oriolelei's former passions rejuvenate in fueling the new ones through her youth and early adulthood. She likens herself to a specialist to help identify an item - except for plants, no shade to the medicine cats but all plants look the same to her #cancelher - and gives things her own rarity based purely on opinion but also get a first look at whatever interesting items comes their way. The possibility of finding or re-finding ancient or brand new, or strange two-legs things that could already be within their paws' reach and they just have to grab it. Who knows where her efforts, unusual love for the dead and time will be worth? Death is a complicated duality with her; on one hand she's seen an outsider off the border - frozen completely still, like sculptures ready to come to life, and to that she's a 'death fangirl' perhaps - charming to a degree. But also what if they could reverse that one day? There's so much to life they don't know and life's mysteries kinda inspires her. Other times if she's having an existential crisis with you, she believes and lives like there is no afterlife- so she /has/ to live it up while she can. If she's right, then it's too sad to think about all the cats who don't get to live full lives, all the ones that die young... but if she's wrong, then thank the stars their short and fragile lives have something else to live for, or rather to continue experiencing a different kind of life, the afterlife. To have a life to look back on with joy, she doesn't have to be perfect and neither do you. On her good days or bad days she's kicking down the doors to people's personal boundaries and sometimes accidentally being too much and other times not so accidentally getting to know her clanmates better because sometimes just talking about dumb dreams meaning or toms or 'that's a pretty big rabbit in the pile there - you think they're starting to finally mutate?' 'Finally?' 'Ohyouhaven'theardmytheoryyet?' She thinks of Rowanstrike as her guidance she could hang out all day with without even saying a word and just being in each other's company, Gingersnap is her gossip and social buddy she doesn't hesitate to visit or 'to monitor the prisoner' - heck even when they don't have a patrol or anything she still shows up just to realize it with 'OOOhhh right.... Well, wanna go get breakfast since I'm here?' Oriolelei doesn't seem to take anything as an inconvenience and sometimes carries a mysterious 'it was meant to happen anyways' attitude. Hanging around these prisoners is making her soft, what was that saying - wounded birds flock together? Something like that, and something about living for freedom and wanting to help others spread their wings that draws her to Amberbird, and other cats in general. On the topic of freedom she feels inclined to want to inspire him (she being a friendly cat cooped up in unfriendly clan who tried be less friendly and not like herself for her youth, is definitely projecting her feelings on him) but with the angle of being free from a kittypet life than wants he wants. On one part she thinks he's interesting kittypet with stories to tell, and if he's an outsider than if she can convince him to stay winterclan will see the benefits of befriending and starting to accept outsiders more and deep down she really just want him to be her answer to going against their tradition and not feel guilty about it.
